The administration of the Sechenovsky District paid 1.3 million rubles for soil damage.

      IncidentsThe Administration of the Sechenovsky Municipal District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast compensated for damage caused to the soil by the illegal placement of waste outside the official landfill. This was reported by the press service of the regional office of Rosprirodnadzor.

      The violation was discovered in 2024. The inspection was conducted as part of the federal project "General Cleanup" and covered a closed solid household waste landfill near the village of Sechenovo.

      During the survey it was found that part of the garbage had been dumped outside the landfill boundaries on a plot of land without a clear owner. The total area of the contaminated site amounted to about 3,400 square meters.

      Environmental specialists calculated the amount of environmental damage caused to the soils. It exceeded 1.3 million rubles. It was this amount that Rosprirodnadzor demanded be reimbursed by the local authorities, since under the law they are responsible for controlling land use and preventing its pollution.

      The district administration did not delay in resolving the issue and voluntarily reimbursed the full amount of the damage.

      Earlier it was reported that the Semenovsky water utility had discharged harmful sewage into the Belbazh River.
