Residents of Nizhny Novgorod have started buying activated charcoal less often.

      Nizhny Novgorod Oblast took seventh place in the all-Russia ranking of antidiarrheal drug sales. These data were published on the RNC Pharma company's Telegram channel by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the medical outlet "Stacionar Press".

      Since the beginning of 2025, around 1.5 million packages of drugs in this category have been sold in the region's pharmacies for a total of 463.8 million rubles.

      Interestingly, over the past year demand for activated charcoal fell by 17% (all figures are in packages). Sales of Polysorb also dropped by 10%.

      At the same time, residents of the region have increasingly chosen more modern medications. Thus, sales of Alpha Normix rose by 28%, Enterol by 34%, and Linex by 19%.

      Despite changes in consumer preferences, Enterosgel remains the leader in the regional pharmaceutical market among antidiarrheal agents, Nikonov added.

      Earlier it was reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast spent an average of 6,500 rubles on medications in the first half of 2025.
