Drugs and an arsenal were found in the apartment of a previously convicted Nizhny Novgorod resident.

      Incidents — In the Sovetsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, police officers detained a 39-year-old man who was found to be in possession of a large batch of drugs, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      Operatives from the city and regional drug control units stopped the suspect in the entranceway of one of the buildings on Poltavskaya Street. The man was unemployed and already had a criminal record. During a search, officers found two small bags with white powder and one with a crystalline substance.

      An examination showed that one of the packages contained the synthetic drug methadone. The mass of the substance totaled almost 120 grams. A criminal case has been opened on the charge of attempted sale of narcotics in an especially large amount.

      After the arrest, police searched the man's apartment and the building's basement. There they discovered scales, mobile phones, SIM cards, bank cards, a plastic bottle with a double bottom inside of which was another package of the substance, as well as containers with traces of powder. All of this has been sent for examination.

      In addition, a sawn-off hunting shotgun, parts of a pistol, a traumatic (non-lethal) pistol and 30 cartridges were found in the building. These items have also been sent for examination.

      By court decision the suspect was remanded in custody. The investigation continues.

      Earlier it was reported that more than 40 kg of finished synthetic drugs were seized from an underground laboratory in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
