A few more garages in Sormovo are being seized to make way for the metro extension.

      The administration of Nizhny Novgorod has adopted a decree on the expropriation of several land plots and the garages located on them in the Sormovsky district. The document was published on the mayor’s office website.

      It is noted that the decision is related to the implementation of the project to extend the Sormovsko‑Meshcherskaya metro line — from Burevestnik station to the future Sormovskaya station.

      The expropriation will affect three plots located in the areas of Kominterna and Kalashnikova streets. Garages belonging to the garage cooperatives "Levinka‑2" and "GSK No. 3 on Kalashnikova St." are situated on these lands. All the properties are privately owned.

      Owners will be provided with compensation in accordance with current legislation. The amount of compensation will be determined by an independent appraisal conducted within the framework of the Law "On Appraisal Activity in the Russian Federation."

      The Committee for the Management of City Property and Land Resources is obliged to notify the right holders, conduct negotiations and prepare expropriation agreements. In case of refusal to sign an agreement, the administration will file a lawsuit for compulsory expropriation.

      After the municipal ownership rights are formalized, the objects are subject to demolition. The municipal state institution overseeing metro construction will undertake the demolition work as well as the development of design and estimate documentation.

      Earlier it was reported that the general contractor will pay a fine for breaching the metro construction deadlines in Sormovo. Recall that the contract was signed in August 2022. The station will be built near Stantsionnaya Street.
