      An investigation in Nizhny Novgorod has been completed into a criminal case against a 14-year-old schoolboy accused of attempting to kill two classmates, the regional Investigative Committee press service reported.

      According to the investigation, the incident occurred in March 2025 at a school in the Sormovsky district. During the school day, the teenager, harboring personal animosity toward two classmates after prolonged conflicts, attacked them with a knife right in the classroom. He inflicted stab and slash wounds to the neck area of both pupils.

      However, he did not manage to carry out his plan — he was stopped, and the victims were quickly given medical assistance. According to forensic medical examination findings, both students sustained minor injuries.

      The teenager was placed under house arrest. Investigative bodies collected a sufficient body of evidence confirming the minor’s guilt. The criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Article 30 and point “a” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — attempted murder of two or more persons.

      In addition, as part of the investigation a probe is being conducted into possible negligence by officials. Investigators are clarifying all circumstances of the incident, as well as the causes and conditions that may have contributed to the tragedy.

      The regional prosecutor’s office added that the indictment has been approved and the case will soon be sent to court.
