In the Leninsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, the stele "To the Home Front Workers," located near the district administration building, was refurbished. The initiative to renew the memorial site came from concerned residents who in March appealed to social precinct officer Olga Shishkina with a request to put the monument in order.

"We received many messages from people about the need to put the monument in order. The district administration responded to our signals. The stele was restored: it was painted, and flowers were planted in beautiful beds. It is important that it was finished in time for the anniversary of the Great Victory," Olga Shishkina told reporters.

Local resident Nadezhda added that memorial rallies on May 9 and June 22 are held near the stele with the participation of schoolchildren, volunteers and veterans.

"This monument is dear to many. It reminds us of people who spared themselves for the sake of Victory. It's good that it was restored right now — for the anniversary date. The district has noticeably transformed in recent years: the 'Dubki' park and the Mayakovsky park have been improved," she said.

Two teenagers living nearby noted that the monument used to be neglected.

"Now everything has been restored, flowers have been planted. It's important to remember those who defended us. If not for our grandfathers and grandmothers, we wouldn't be here," the youths shared.

The monument was erected in 1985 for the 40th anniversary of the Victory and is dedicated to the home front workers — those who during the Great Patriotic War worked in factories and supplied the front with everything necessary. It consists of three parts: a central red five-pointed star, sculptural depictions of workers, and the slogan "Everything for the front, everything for Victory." These words became the motto for thousands of Gorky residents who worked on the home front during the war.

The monument indicates that 36 thousand residents of the Leninsky district fought on the fronts, while those who remained on the home front worked at enterprises, contributing to the Victory.

Recall that the "Social Precinct Officer" project has been implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod region since March 2023 at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin. According to him, the social precinct officer is intended to become a kind of "navigator" for citizens in resolving life issues, acting as an intermediary between residents and authorities: helping to bring a problem to the appropriate agencies and informing citizens about available support measures and opportunities.

"We know the people in our territories, we understand their needs. When a person can simply call and describe a problem, it speeds up the process of solving it," Olga Shishkina said.

To date the project covers cities such as Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Arzamas, Bogorodsk and Kstovo.
