       SocietyIn July 2025, Russia experienced a significant drop in prices for many socially important food items, which was the result of the work of the country's retail chains. This was reported by TV channel "360" citing data from the Association of Retail Companies.

      A particularly noticeable price reduction was observed among the vegetables included in the borscht set. Prices for white cabbage fell by 34.7%, for beets by 29.3%, for carrots by 29.2%, and for onions by 23.2%. The most affordable product in July was first-grade potatoes, whose price decreased by 36.2%.

      Price declines also affected other food products. Black tea became 15% cheaper, rice by 12%, vermicelli by 10%, seasonal apples by 8%, sunflower oil by 7%, chicken eggs by 6%, milk by 5%, frozen fish by 4%, and table salt by 3%.

      A small but noticeable price reduction also occurred in the meat products segment. Pork became 0.9% more affordable, and a whole broiler chicken carcass by 0.8%.

      As previously reported, prices for the basic food basket in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast continue to rise. According to Nizhegorodstat, in June 2025 the minimum food basket per person cost residents of the region 7,125.79 rubles.
