      From August 1, 2025, subscribers of Russian telecom operators can opt out of receiving any SMS mailings, and from September 1 — of mass phone calls. This is enshrined in the first package of measures to combat cyberfraud adopted at the federal level.

      Such messages and calls are often used to impose unnecessary services or for fraudulent purposes. To opt out of spam, a subscriber can submit an application to the operator in a retail store or on the company’s website. The mailings must stop on the day after the application is submitted. At their discretion, the subscriber will be able to similarly cancel the opt-out and resume receiving messages. Citizens can clarify service details with their operator.

      Recall that protecting citizens from cyberfraud is part of the national project “Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State,” which came into effect in Russia on January 1, 2025, by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
