      In the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod investigators have opened a criminal case into the death of a child. The case was opened under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for liability for causing death by negligence, the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region said.

      According to preliminary investigation data, on August 9, 2025 an abandoned garage collapsed on Raevsky Street. At that moment a man and his six-year-old son were walking past it. Debris covered the child, leaving him no chance of survival.

      Specialists from emergency services and representatives of the district administration are working at the scene. They are carrying out the necessary measures to ascertain all the circumstances of what happened. Rescuers recovered the boy's body from under the rubble.

      The head of the city, Yuri Shalabayev, has taken personal control of the situation.
