In Arzamas, the main phase of data collection for assessing the damage caused by the powerful storm that passed on August 2 has been completed. This was reported by Mayor Alexander Shchelokov on his Telegram channel.
According to the head of the city, three commissions were formed to conduct the inspections simultaneously in affected areas. In three days, specialists visited over 120 houses. The most common consequences were flooding of basements, cellars, and gardens. In some cases, roof damage was recorded, such as on Volkodarskogo Street, where a tree fell on a roof.
Special attention is being given to addresses where water entered residential premises. Shchelokov emphasized that such cases are considered a priority.
Inspections also covered apartment buildings. In Microdistrict 11, in houses No. 42 and No. 48, roof leaks were documented. The mayor noted that management companies, in particular "Zhilservis-3" and "7th Quarter," have actively engaged in the work. Similar issues have been identified in other houses in the city and district.
At the meeting of the disaster response headquarters, a decision was made to allocate material assistance to 46 families identified by the social protection department. Shchelokov added that the list of recipients will be updated.
The mayor emphasized that work to eliminate the consequences continues daily. Priority will be given to issuing defect reports on houses on Oktyabrskaya, Krylova, Volkodarskogo, and Lenina Streets, where residential premises have flooded.
He stated that more time is allotted for complex cases, but the action plan has already been established, and support from regional authorities and understanding from residents enable confident progress.
Recall that on August 2, almost two months' worth of precipitation fell in the Arzamas urban district. As a result of the storm, streets were flooded, cases of roof collapses and fallen trees were reported, and settlements were left without electricity.
Earlier, Shchelokov stated that affected residents of the flooded houses would receive material support for urgent needs ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 rubles.
