      In Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg City Council Deputy Chairman Artem Safiullin has been detained, reports IA "NTA-Privolzhye" citing the regional court's press service.

      The Moscow District Court has chosen detention as his measure of restraint. Safiullin will remain under arrest at least until September 25.

      A criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Fraud." The case involves an act committed by an organized group, on a particularly large scale, or resulting in depriving a citizen of the right to housing.

      Artem Safiullin has been a deputy of the Orenburg City Council since 2017, re-elected in 2020 for district No. 16. Since 2019, he has also held the position of commercial director at "Ellips" company. He is a member of the "United Russia" party and is part of the Local Political Council for the Leninsky District of Orenburg.

      It was previously reported that the arrest of Nizhny Novgorod businessman Dmitry Dzepe was extended until September 13.
