      Incidents Deputy Chairman of the Orenburg City Council Artem Safiullin was detained in Nizhny Novgorod, reports Ural56.Ru, citing its own sources.

      According to the publication, Safiullin is suspected of involvement in fraudulent activities. He has been detained for 72 hours. After this period, the court will decide on further detention. An arrest is possible, our colleagues write.

      Preliminary information suggests that the investigation may be related to the activities of the company "Dmstroy," which Safiullin heads, as well as several other affiliated organizations.

      Specifically, the case concerns a contract signed in 2023 in Chkalovsk, Nizhny Novgorod region. The agreement involved work on sewage treatment facilities for approximately 124 million rubles. The contractor at that time was LLC "MEK," whose interests were represented by Artem Safiullin under a power of attorney.

      It is suspected that the estimated cost of the project was inflated. According to available information, changes in the documentation were justified by the inaccessibility of the originally declared equipment, allegedly due to sanctions restrictions. New calculations were conducted in Orenburg. As a result, sources believe that the Chkalovsk administration may have overpaid by nearly 35 million rubles.
