      Additional pumping units have been sent from the neighboring Shatkovsky district to Arzamas to address the consequences of heavy rains that struck the city on August 2. According to Mayor Alexander Shchelokov on his social media.

      One pump will operate on Lermontova Street, the other on Oktyabrskaya Street.

      Emergency repair work has also been joined by Temp-Avia and Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant (AZZ). Their equipment is active on Ugodnikova and Oktyabrskaya streets, where flood levels are most critical.

      Recall that Arzamas experienced a heavy downpour. As the city mayor reported, 110 mm of precipitation fell in a day, almost twice the August norm. As a result of the bad weather, more than a thousand residents are without electricity. Water flows have flooded several city streets. Buildings of the medical college, two kindergartens, three schools, the MFC, ambulance station, and children’s camp have been damaged. Some facilities are without power, others have suffered from leaks.

      Currently, work to eliminate the damage continues. Starting August 4, a special commission will assess the damage caused by the bad weather. Victims will be compensated from 5 to 10 thousand rubles.
