Holy Rus

      Every year, on July 28th, believers celebrate the Day of the Baptism of Rus — a historic event that took place in 988 AD. The Day of the Baptism of Rus is officially recognized in Russia as a memorial date, with celebrations held on July 28th, when the Russian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, who adopted Christianity as the state religion. On this day, employees of the Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution "Perevozskaya Central Library System" together with members of the Youth Orthodox Club "Pokrov" in Perevoz conducted the "Holy Rus'" event, congratulating the residents of Perevoz on the Orthodox holiday. Participants received leaflets from the Russian Orthodox Church with brief information about the holiday and a message from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, as well as pamphlets with a list of books available in the Central Library containing many interesting details about the history of Orthodoxy.
