Incidents NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" - Maria Orlova The Criminal Cases Panel of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court overturned the verdict previously issued by the Sovetsky District Court concerning Vladimir Isayev. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the court's press service.
The decision was made due to significant violations of criminal procedural law committed by the trial court, in particular, the violation of Isayev's right to defense.
The criminal case has been sent for re-examination to the same court — Sovetsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod — but in a different panel.
It is to be reminded that Vladimir Isayev held the position of head of Sovetsky District from January 2017 until June 2020, when he resigned voluntarily. In August 2020, a criminal case was initiated against him, which concluded in April 2022.
According to investigators, from 2018 to 2020, Isayev received bribes via intermediaries totaling over 1 million rubles for protecting owners of non-stationary trading objects (NTO).
In May 2025, the Sovetsky District Court found Isayev guilty of accepting bribes and exceeding official powers. He was sentenced to 8 years in a high-security prison, as well as an eight-year ban on holding positions in local self-government bodies. Additionally, the bribe amount of 1,082,000 rubles was ordered to be confiscated from the defendant.
It was previously reported that a native of Nizhny Novgorod, former governor of Tambov Oblast Maxim Egorov, was detained for bribe-taking.
