In the city of Nizhny Novgorod, the deputy general director of a municipal institution is accused of abuse of authority.

      Investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region have initiated a criminal case against the Deputy General Director of a municipal institution for the construction and repair of the metro, bridges, and road networks in Nizhny Novgorod, accused of committing an offense under paragraph "e" of part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official authority). According to the investigation, in 2024, a contract was signed between the municipal institution and a commercial organization for the overhaul of a railway overpass near a bridge in the Leninsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. In August 2024, the accused threatened the head of the contracting organization with creating artificial obstacles to acceptance of work under all municipal orders, including the overhaul of the overpass, if the organization refused to sign a subcontractor agreement, which is actually run by the defendant and his close relative. As a result of criminal actions, a disadvantageous subcontractor agreement was concluded for the commercial organization, causing material damage of over 200 million rubles in unrealized profit. Illegal actions of the man have been identified and suppressed by investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in cooperation with officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region. A preventive measure in the form of house arrest has been chosen for the accused by the court. Currently, investigators are conducting a comprehensive set of investigative and procedural actions to establish all circumstances of the incident, causes, and conditions that contributed to it.
