      In Nizhny Novgorod, the battle against illegal liquid household waste discharges continues. Another raid was carried out in the Kanavinsky, Leninsky, and Soviet districts. This time, inspectors not only identified violators but also decided to strengthen control. Now inspections will also take place at night.

      As Aleksy Krasnov, the first deputy director of the Department of Improvements, explained, the addresses for raids are selected based on complaints from residents. According to him, complaints about unpleasant odors in the city are often related to the activities of so-called "black" septic tankers. They dump waste in unauthorized places, polluting water and air.

      In the Soviet district, on Artelnaya Street, inspectors caught a violator on site. The driver tried to escape, but staff followed him to the official dumping station on Krasnykh Parizantov Street. There, the vehicle was detained, a protocol was drawn up, and the equipment was sent to a impound lot.

      Another case was recorded on Osharskaya Street. The septic tanker's driver dumped waste directly into the storm drain near the bridge over the Starka River and drove away, ignoring the inspector. Currently, the materials have been forwarded to the police, and the violator is being sought.

      Raids in the Kanavinsky and Leninsky districts also took place but found no violations. All vehicles caught in inspectors' sight were sent to official disposal points.

      Aleksy Krasnov noted that recently, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of vehicles arriving at legal discharge stations. For example, on Zelenodolskaya Street, where illegal discharges used to be common, the situation has improved.

      Nevertheless, it is early to relax. As emphasized by the city administration, inspections will continue, especially if new complaints from residents are received. Moreover, raids will now be held not only in the morning, as before, but also at night, since unpleasant odors and illegal discharges are most often recorded during the dark hours.

      It was previously reported that mobile teams have started working on residents' complaints about the smell.
