Society In the village of Kekino, Votyrinsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region, a quarantine has been in place since July 23 due to a confirmed case of anthrax in a personal subsidiary farm. According to the regional Vet Service, the cause was a report from a local resident who noticed the death of several goats. After disinfection of the area and laboratory tests, the diagnosis was confirmed. Specialists from the Vet Service, Rospotrebnadzor, and Rosselkhoznadzor are working on site. They are conducting epizootic prevention measures and investigating the source of infection. According to the agency, there is no threat of the disease spreading beyond the epicenter. No cases of human or other animal infections have been registered outside the personal subsidiary farm. During the quarantine period, the slaughter, transportation, and import of animals that haven't been vaccinated against anthrax are prohibited. Authorities emphasize that animals will not be confiscated from owners. All livestock in the quarantine zone has been vaccinated. Residents are asked not to let animals graze freely and to cooperate with veterinary services.
