The operation of the Nizhny Novgorod Hydroelectric Station continues normally despite the incident at the Gorodets Dam. The collapse of part of the structure during construction works did not affect the functioning of the pressurized hydraulic structures or the power plant itself.
As reported by the branch of PJSC "RusHydro" – "Nizhny Novgorod GES," the enterprise is consistently following the prescribed regime established by the Federal Agency for Water Resources. Currently, average spill discharge rates are 1100–1150 m³/s, which complies with regulations.
It is recalled that a partial destruction of the structure occurred on July 22 around 11:00. At the section between sluice gates No. 15 and No. 16, the headworks collapsed, resulting in the flooding of the construction site of sluice chamber 15A.
Emergency response teams from Rosmorrechflot and FKU "Rostransmодernization" promptly arrived at the scene. Specialists began inspecting the damaged section. Currently, a comprehensive set of technical measures is underway to assess the condition of the structures, eliminate the consequences of the accident, and restore safe conditions for navigation.
According to information from Rosmorrechflot, vessel movement through the Gorodets Dam is temporarily suspended. The timing of navigation resumption will be determined after completing all inspections.
