      Society. Measures to prevent natural fires have been intensified in Nizhny Novgorod amid persistently high fire hazard levels. According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Upper-Volga UMS," from July 16 to 21, 2025, certain districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region are expected to experience a 4th class of fire danger, indicating a high risk of fires in forests and peatlands.

      In this context, comprehensive work to prevent emergencies continues in the city. According to the decree of Nizhny Novgorod Mayor Yuri Shalabaev, joint patrols of forest areas have been organized. Participants in these patrols include district administration employees, local forest rangers, and representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations oversight department.

      As reported by the Autozavodsky local forestry unit, patrols are conducted daily. The main goal is to identify and prevent violations of the special fire safety regime.

      Senior inspector of the oversight and preventive work department for Nizhny Novgorod, Dmitry Soloviev, reminded that during the period of the special fire safety regime established by the Nizhny Novgorod region government decree, citizens are prohibited from visiting forests when the fire danger is at 4th or 5th class.

      Also, prohibitions include making fires, burning trash and waste, conducting agricultural burns, and cooking on coals on forest lands and adjacent territories. Such measures are necessary to prevent natural fires and minimize threats to human life and the environment.

      Authorites urge Nizhny Novgorod residents to follow fire safety rules and report any fires immediately.
