
Fake trader deceived a pensioner from Nizhny Novgorod out of 700,000 rubles

Incidents An elderly resident of the Soviet district of Nizhny Novgorod fell victim to scammers, losing a large sum of money after communicating with an fraudster claiming to be a broker. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
A 74-year-old man contacted the police, explaining that he had maintained communication via messenger for two months with an unknown person posing as an employee of an investment company. The fraudster promised the pensioner high returns from stock market transactions.
Under the pretext of earning profit, the interlocutor persuaded the man to take out a loan of 300,000 rubles. In addition to the borrowed funds, the pensioner also used his own savings. He transferred all the money to bank accounts dictated by the "broker."
After the transactions were completed, the fake trader ceased communication. The total damage caused to the victim exceeded 700,000 rubles.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 159 of the Criminal Code for fraud at police department No. 7 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod. An investigation is underway.
It was previously reported that scammers managed to steal 630,000 rubles from a pensioner in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.
