On July 12, 2025, in Lyskov, a stage of the large regional health marathon "We Are for a Healthy Lifestyle!" was held as part of the national project "Long and Active Life." About 1,000 residents of the city participated in the event at Lyskov Central Park of Culture and Rest.
The organizers were the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, working closely with specialists from mobile diagnostic complexes of leading medical institutions in the region: Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, City Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Nizhny Novgorod, and the Nizhny Novgorod Center for Combating AIDS. The combined efforts of these organizations allowed a wide range of medical services and consultations to be offered.
The operation of mobile complexes ensured diagnostic access for a large number of citizens, which is especially important for residents of remote areas. Over 500 medical examinations and consultations took place during the marathon. Forty-seven people underwent electrocardiographic (ECG) studies and received qualified advice from an experienced cardiologist.
The marathon program included a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures. Eighteen residents took advantage of the opportunity to have a chest fluorography—an important method for the prevention of tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. Twelve women underwent mammographic screening, which allows for early detection of breast cancer. Twenty-four people participated in rapid HIV testing.
Specialists from Lyskovsky and Sergach Central Regional Hospitals also joined the marathon. Thanks to their involvement, nearly 120 Lyskov residents had the opportunity to consult with doctors of various specialties: neurologists, endocrinologists, therapists, dermatologists, and pediatricians. This helped assess their health and receive recommendations for disease prevention.
Ten residents of the city were able to speak with a qualified psychologist. Dermatoscopic examinations, which help identify skin neoplasms at an early stage, were completed for 27 individuals. More than 210 patients took advantage of the opportunity to measure their anthropometric data, blood pressure, intraocular pressure, and determine blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
The "We Are for a Healthy Lifestyle!" marathon is not only about diagnostics. An important part of it was informing citizens about the main principles of a healthy lifestyle. Participants learned about proper nutrition, physical activity, prevention of harmful habits, and other aspects that contribute to health preservation and longevity. This approach not only helped identify existing problems but also provided tools for preventing future illnesses.
"The regional marathon 'We Are for a Healthy Lifestyle!' is a vivid example of successful cooperation between medical institutions and government authorities aimed at improving the health of Lyskov residents and the entire Nizhny Novgorod region. It demonstrates that a comprehensive approach, including preventive measures and accessible diagnostics, is an effective tool in fighting diseases and strengthening the population's health," said Natalya Savitskaya, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention.
It is reminded that the national project "Long and Active Life" has been implemented across the country since 2025, by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It addresses tasks previously outlined in the "Healthcare" national project. The new national project aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and involves further modernization of polyclinics, outpatient clinics, feldsher-obstetric stations, attracting more qualified medical personnel, applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical services and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitalizing the industry.
The national project includes 11 federal initiatives: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Fight Against Cardiovascular Diseases," "Fight Against Oncology," "Fight Against Diabetes," "Fight Against Hepatitis and Minimization of Disease Spread Risks," "Improvement of Emergency Medical Aid," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, Including the Expansion of the National Research Centers Network," "National Platform 'Health'," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Recovery."
