Eighty-two percent of residents of Nizhny Novgorod Region are willing to replace disposable plastic utensils with more environmentally friendly alternatives. This is evidenced by survey data, which the SuperJob service conducted to determine residents’ attitudes towards giving up plastic tableware.
The study was conducted from June 30 to July 2, 2025, among the economically active population. It is noted that 42% of respondents fully support such an initiative, and another 40% are rather willing to take this step. Women support abandoning plastic more often than men, and among youth under 35, the proportion of supporters of an environmentally friendly approach reaches 87%.
Eighteen percent of respondents oppose switching to alternative materials. Of these, 6% are strictly unwilling to give up plastic tableware, while another 12% are rather not willing. The main reasons are convenience and low cost: many believe that plastic tableware is indispensable during trips or holidays.
Let’s remind that starting September 1, 2025, Russia will enforce a ban on the production and use of certain types of PET packaging.
