THE MOVEMENT ON THE BRIDGE OVER THE VADOK RIVER IS OPEN

      After a long break, traffic has resumed on the repaired bridge over the Vadok River. The work was carried out as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," with a total project cost of 57 million rubles. Local residents eagerly awaited the repair of this structure.

      As early as spring 2023, the condition of the bridge raised serious concerns: the structure had settled in the piles. The cause of the deformations was heavy trucks delivering construction materials for the construction of the M-12 highway. The flow of heavy trucks sharply increased, and the structure could not withstand the increased loads – the main load-bearing structures were damaged, posing a direct threat to road safety. As a result, traffic on the bridge was closed, and a temporary road was built for detours.

      According to Sergey Evgenievich Poletayev, head of the artificial structures department of the State Budgetary Institution of the Nizhny Novgorod Region "GUAD," the contract for the work was awarded back in September 2023. "The contractor who won the tender failed to meet the task and fulfill obligations. The contract with them was terminated."

      Due to the unscrupulousness of the previous contractor, the repair timelines were significantly delayed. The situation required urgent intervention, and ultimately a new competition was announced, with the company "Patriot" winning. The new contracting organization began work on the site in mid-June of this year and met the deadlines. The work was fully completed by the end of August. The administration of the Vadsky municipal district actively facilitated timely responses during the change of contractors, which helped avoid further delays and quickly resume work on the site.

      Alexey Nikolaevich Petrov, head of the contracting organization "Patriot," noted that up to 10 people worked on the site daily. Local residents were also hired as needed for auxiliary work. Specialists had to conduct a complete renovation of the structure. The main types of work included: cleaning concrete structures and installing waterproofing, laying asphalt concrete pavement (including finishing 3 out of 13 meters of the road), installing and painting barrier fencing, as well as fully painting the underside of the bridge. Additionally, the road surface was completely arranged with approaches to the bridge, and new road signs were installed.

      The restoration of the bridge structure allowed the object to return to a normative operational state, lift restrictions on the movement of all types of vehicles, and guarantee road safety.

      With the launch of permanent traffic over the bridge, workers from PMK "Vadskaya" will dismantle the temporary structure. Special attention will be paid to restoring the natural riverbed during the detour's elimination. This is an important step that is expected to help prevent possible flooding of the area during spring floods.
