10 initiatives of residents were implemented under the project "It's up to you!" in Sormovo.
On August 28, 2026, at 10:32, Society In school No. 9 and lyceum No. 82, work on updating the assembly halls has been completed. The administration of the Sormovsky district reported that all 10 facilities planned for 2026 under the governor's initiative budgeting project "It's Up to You!" are ready. According to the mayor of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, this year 78 initiatives will be implemented in Nizhny Novgorod under "It's Up to You!" with a total amount of over 340 million rubles across various areas: children's and sports grounds, roads, sidewalks, lighting, and more.
As Yuri Shalabaev mentioned, the assembly hall at lyceum No. 82 has been completely transformed for the new school year as part of the "It's Up to You!" project. "We replaced the stage flooring, updated the wiring, ceiling, and floor, painted the walls, installed new doors and comfortable chairs, as well as modern lighting instead of old fluorescent lamps. Very soon, the updated venue will host the first school line-ups, theatrical performances, and presentations of students' engineering projects," the mayor reported.
By the order of the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, the heads of district administrations personally monitored the progress of work at each facility. "This year, ten initiatives were implemented in the Sormovsky district. At this moment, we have completed all work under the "It's Up to You!" program for this year. Since May, we have put into operation various facilities: this includes the asphalting of roads on Furmanova Street and Novye Polyanki Street, asphalting on the territory of kindergarten No. 393, sports grounds at schools No. 79 and No. 85, a universal sports complex at school No. 156 named after B.I. Ryabtsev, children's playgrounds on Fedoseenko Street and Svetloyarskaya Street, as well as the renovation of assembly halls in school No. 9 and lyceum No. 82," said the head of the Sormovsky district administration, Svetlana Gorbunova.
According to the director of lyceum No. 82, Nina Govorova, the new assembly hall can now be used not only as a lecture and concert venue but can also be transformed for meetings, brainstorming sessions, group work, and conducting Olympiads and competitions. "We have renovated all the electrical wiring - this is very costly work and very important. We have also completely modernized the stage - it has become larger and more convenient for our school theater," added Nina Govorova.
In addition to the new assembly hall, a specialized training complex for practicing yacht management skills of the "Optimist" class was opened at the lyceum at the beginning of the school year. Yuri Shalabaev reminded that since 2022, the educational institution has been a City Resource Center for engineering education and supporting the work of the educational-production shipbuilding cluster of the Sormovsky district. "The new equipment is designed for year-round basic training of young sailors. The simulator accurately mimics the rocking, allows adjusting the sail for different wind courses (a powerful fan is installed for this), and helps to automate the technique of turns," the head of the city reported on social media.
The director of the OSK "Krasnoe Sormovo" plant, Sergey Lyashenko, noted that the cluster will help students in choosing their life path and will instill in children a desire to develop technologies and create new projects. "In working with educational organizations, we are building a comprehensive program for the benefit of domestic shipbuilding," said Sergey Lyashenko.
The head of the Sormovsky district, Svetlana Gorbunova, along with State Duma deputy Artem Kavinov and the general director of "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz," Mikhail Morozov, also checked the completed work at school No. 9, where the assembly hall was completely updated under the "It's Up to You!" project.
According to the school director, Anna Zhukova, the suspended ceiling, lighting, heating radiators were partially replaced in the assembly hall, the wall and floor coverings were updated, and the stage was repaired. "At the end of the assembly hall, we had a balcony, which we turned into a costume room for the dance group 'Wind of Change.' We also purchased new roller blinds for the windows and new chairs. We also plan to decorate the back wall of our hall - we intend to brand the school," added the director.
Svetlana Vinkova, the mother of two students at school No. 9, said that the update of the assembly hall became a special reason for joy: "The hall has transformed, becoming more comfortable, cozy, and modern. The children will feel great here; they will be able to showcase their talents in all their glory, demonstrating new achievements and successes."
State Duma deputy Artem Kavinov noted that each of the facilities implemented under the "It's Up to You!" project represents a comprehensive, independent, and creative whole, and most importantly - a necessary space for the future for children, parents, and educators. "Both assembly halls were literally lifted from complete ruin. Now they are modern multifunctional spaces that can be used not only by schools but also by various organizations in the district. The contractors did an excellent job. The teachers are satisfied," added Artem Kavinov.
The general director of "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz," Mikhail Morozov, emphasized that the most important thing in the initiative budgeting project "It's Up to You!" is that residents themselves choose what they need. "Some pay more attention to sidewalks, road surfaces, while others focus on children's and sports grounds. The project allows everyone to personally vote for the projects that are closer to them," summarized Mikhail Morozov.
Let us remind you that earlier the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, reported that the official portal GOLOSZA.RU is open for applications under the "It's Up to You!" project for 2027, which will end on September 1. "The priorities for improvement - from yard territories to sports facilities - are still determined by the residents themselves. This year, the implementation of 78 initiatives is planned in the territory of Nizhny Novgorod. I invite Nizhny Novgorod residents to participate in the selection and contribute to the development of our city," said the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev.
