Nizhny Novgorod residents are increasingly participating in the development of their cities and villages.

This position was stated by Dmitry Grachev, Deputy Minister of Internal Regional and Municipal Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and participant in the "Time of Heroes" program.

      As Dmitry Grachev noted, the federal project "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" gives residents the opportunity to participate directly in the transformation of public spaces. People can choose an area for improvement, support a project they like, or propose their own initiative.

      Another effective tool, according to him, remains participatory budgeting. It allows citizens to determine which projects are necessary first, participate in their discussion and implementation.

      "Such initiatives help create modern public spaces, improve courtyards, repair social infrastructure facilities, and make life in settlements more comfortable," emphasized Dmitry Grachev.

      He also reminded that in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, this work is complemented by the governor's participatory budgeting project "It's Up to You!" The program supports initiative projects that are prepared and implemented with the direct participation of the residents of Nizhny Novgorod.

      According to Dmitry Grachev, such interaction between residents, local government bodies, and public organizations allows for achieving real results and making life in cities, towns, and villages more comfortable. He emphasized that joint decisions are always more accurate, in demand, and effective, as they are based on people's needs.

      "Every proposal, every voice, and every initiative is a contribution to the development of one's small homeland," added the deputy minister.

      It should be noted that applications for participation in the governor's project "It's Up to You!" for 2027 are accepted until September 1 on the website golosza.ru. It was also reported that in 2026, seven public spaces will be updated in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the FCGS. Work has already been completed on some of them.
