Alyhanov held a round table on the development of general aviation in Nizhny Novgorod.
On August 24, 2026, at 16:51, Economy The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov, during a working trip to the Nizhny Novgorod region, held a round table dedicated to the development of general aviation. He also inspected the exhibition of aircraft, engines, instruments, and equipment for general aviation. The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, participated in the event.
Anton Alikhanov stated that general aviation should become a full-fledged segment of the air transport industry. One of the main tasks he mentioned was the creation of a line of engines, units, and instruments for universal use.
"It is precisely small aircraft and helicopters that will complement the model range of medium-haul and regional aviation, which we are developing within the framework of the KPG. This program is currently being updated, and when forming forecast indicators for supplies, we are also ready to consider proposals from developers and manufacturers in general aviation," noted the minister.
The federal official also spoke about promising projects for power plants for various types of aircraft. The Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM) has developed design documentation for the production of the rotary-piston engine RPD-150T, based on which it is planned to meet the demand for engines with a power output of 50 to 500 horsepower. At the same time, a piston engine with a power output of 500 horsepower and a rotary-piston engine with a power output of 350 horsepower are being created. Work is also underway on turbojet engines, including twin-spool engines, as well as on turbo-shaft gas turbine and turboprop power plants.
According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it is necessary to develop a separate specialized funding program with a preferential interest rate for manufacturers of general aviation, which will also be accessible to small enterprises. The ministry also intends to finance the development of the most technologically complex solutions.
"We will develop the appropriate support mechanism and also provide for the possibility of collective use of the results of scientific research and developments that are being carried out at the request of the ministry," said Anton Alikhanov.
Governor Gleb Nikitin noted the significant role of the Nizhny Novgorod region in domestic aircraft manufacturing and expressed the region's readiness to initiate the creation of a Scientific and Production Center for the development, production, and advancement of general aviation.
"For this, all the necessary competencies are available. General aviation is both transportation accessibility for remote areas and operational efficiency in solving economic, medical, and rescue tasks. The region is ready to create technological solutions that can be scaled to the entire industry in the future," emphasized Gleb Nikitin.
The chairman of the regional parliament, Evgeny Lyulin, noted that today general aviation is no longer viewed as a hobby for enthusiasts but as a strategic segment of the transport industry. According to him, specific tasks have been set at the federal level for creating a modern line of engines and forming a separate support program for manufacturers.
Lyulin expressed confidence that the joint work of lawmakers, developers, and relevant agencies would help make the industry transparent, attractive for investments, and technologically independent. He added that the Nizhny Novgorod region is ready to contribute personnel, scientific, and production resources to this work.
"We have the largest universities that train specialists for the aviation industry, and the close connection between science and production allows for a quick response to industry requests," said Evgeny Lyulin.
