The manager of the credit cooperative embezzled over 26 million rubles from the residents of Nizhny Novgorod.

      On August 15, 2026, at 10:16, Incidents The Koverin Interdistrict Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region issued a verdict against the manager of the credit consumer cooperative "Nizhny Novgorod Credit Union 'Mutual Investments - Gorodets'." She was found guilty of a series of frauds totaling over 26 million rubles, the press service of the regional court reported.

      From February 2022 to October 2024, the woman, working as a manager of the cooperative, used her official position to deceive and abuse the trust of clients to steal their money. A total of 41 people were recognized as victims in the case. The total amount of damage exceeded 26 million rubles.

      During the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse. The court found her guilty on two counts of fraud under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, 35 counts under part 3 of Article 159, and 10 counts under part 4 of Article 159. The final sentence was eight years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony.

      At the same time, the actual serving of the sentence was postponed until the defendant's child turns 14 years old. The court also fully satisfied the civil claims of the victims. To enforce these claims, the seizure was directed at the property of the cooperative and the convicted individual herself. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
