The new cable for the Nizhny Novgorod cable car will cost 194.6 million rubles.

      On August 14, 2026, at 12:35, Society The authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod region plan to allocate 194.6 million rubles for the purchase and installation of a new non-tension cable for the cable car connecting Nizhny Novgorod and Bor. These expenses are included in the draft amendments to the regional budget for 2026 and the planned period of 2027 and 2028, submitted to the regional Legislative Assembly. As stated in the explanatory note, the changes to the budget are primarily related to the adjustment of the targeted investment program, as well as changes in the volume of non-repayable receipts from the federal budget. Taking into account the proposed changes, the revenues of the regional budget for 2026 will amount to 346.1 billion rubles, while expenditures will be 390.9 billion rubles. The deficit will remain unchanged at 44.7 billion rubles. Funds for the cable car are included among the areas of increased expenditures. They are planned to be allocated as budget investments in the authorized capital of JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Cable Cars" to acquire an equivalent share in the authorized capital for state ownership of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Recall that on July 5, during strong winds, several cabins collided and stopped over the Volga. At that moment, there were 16 people inside, including four children. All passengers were safely evacuated, after which the operation of the cable car was deemed unsafe. The non-tension cable ensures the movement of cabins along the entire line, so without its restoration, the launch of the cable car is impossible. Specialists have already determined a method for its restoration. After the work is completed, the cable car will have to undergo mandatory testing and inspection by Rostekhnadzor. Only after that will it be clear when the line can resume operation. In early August, LLC "UrbanTech Service" reported that they plan to restore the cable within a month.
