More than 12,000 Nizhny Novgorod families have taken advantage of the "demographic menu."

      On August 14, 2026, 13:17 Society More than 12,000 families and single parents in Nizhny Novgorod have benefited from support measures that are in place in the region as part of the "demographic menu" of the national project "Family." The program began to be gradually launched on January 1, 2025.

      "Support for families with children is one of the key areas of regional government. We strive to build a system in which assistance accompanies parents at different stages—from expecting a child to their upbringing. It is important that the program 'BASIS - Nizhny Novgorod Life Project' is effectively complemented by federal assistance tools from the 'demographic menu' of the national project 'Family.' This comprehensive approach allows us to take into account the real needs of families and make support more targeted and convenient," noted the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin.

      Thus, young families where both parents are 35 years old or younger can receive 300,000 rubles upon the birth of their third and subsequent children. This payment has already been received by 2,270 families. Pregnant students in full-time education are entitled to 100,000 rubles. This measure has been utilized by 646 women. Another 3,214 families underwent examinations in preparation for participation in the program for in vitro fertilization.

      After the birth of a child, parents can receive assistance with caring for the baby. For example, the "social nanny" service has already been used by 4,150 families. Families with children under three years old can leave their child under the supervision of a specialist for free if they belong to one of the designated categories. These include large families, young families, families of SVO participants, single parents, and low-income families. The "social nanny" service is available in all municipal and urban districts of Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Another measure is rental points for newborn items. Currently, there are 22 such points operating in the region, and 2,111 families have used their services. Parents most often rent high chairs, strollers, car seats for children over six months, electric swings, and playpens. Items can be obtained not only in the municipality where the rental point is located but also by residents of other settlements in the region. The rental period depends on the specific item’s purpose. When applying for the service, it is necessary to provide supporting documents.

      All support measures can be applied for in person by submitting an application to the social protection department at the place of residence.

      Let us remind you that the national project "Family" includes measures aimed at supporting and comprehensively developing families, creating conditions for the active longevity of the older generation, as well as ensuring accessible and quality medical care. National projects are being implemented on the instructions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
