The first stage of training for public observers has been completed in Nizhny Novgorod.

On August 12, 2026, at 11:49, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the first stage of training for public observers has been completed. These observers will work at polling stations during the voting for deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Legislative Assembly, and representative bodies of municipal formations in the region. A seminar for coordinators and foremen from 13 municipal formations took place at the House of National Unity.

The previously updated course, prepared by the Association "Independent Public Monitoring" (NOM), was studied by about two thousand public observers. Seminars were held in Arzamas and Semyonov, and training in Nizhny Novgorod is also nearly complete.

Training for public observers will continue in the municipal formations of the region until the beginning of September. The course from the "Independent Public Monitoring" association includes information on electoral legislation, the rights and responsibilities of observers, and a conflictology block that will help observers respond correctly to possible provocations and conflicts while acting within the legal framework.

"The group of public observers includes both experienced citizens who have already participated in 2-3 electoral campaigns and young people. At the same time, young activists are showing increasing interest in the electoral process; they want to see with their own eyes what is happening at polling stations — they truly have 'sparkling eyes.' I believe that the influx of new forces into public observation can only be welcomed: the more people go through training and the observation procedure, the more trust there will be in society towards the state system, elections, and their results," noted Elena Lenina, Deputy Chair of the Public Chamber of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
