      Starting September 1, 2026, amendments to educational programs will come into effect in Russian schools, including educational institutions in the Nizhny Novgorod region, as reported by "opennov.ru" based on a statement from the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kravtsov.

      The teaching of social studies will now be limited to grades nine to eleven, whereas previously the course began in the eighth grade. At the same time, the number of academic hours for history lessons will be increased, and a unified sequence of topics will be introduced, supported by new textbooks for grades 5-11. The subject "Fundamentals of Safety and Defense of the Motherland" will be transformed into two mandatory blocks: "Life Safety" and "Initial Military Training." The program focuses on developing practical survival skills in various conditions and basic military disciplines. In the current academic year, a pilot behavior assessment system will be launched in ten schools in each region, using a scale of "exemplary," "acceptable," and "unacceptable," which will not affect first-graders. It is expected that from the 2027/28 academic year, this format will become nationwide.

      The course "Russia - My Horizons" for grades 6-11 will be supplemented with a regional component, which will allocate between 8 to 17 hours. The goal of such classes is to inform students about the economy of their region and current career prospects.

      

       The introduction of the discipline "Spiritual and Moral Culture of Russia" is planned for 2027: for fifth graders, the course will start in January, and for sixth and seventh graders - in September. The content of the lessons will focus on studying the achievements of significant state and cultural figures.
