Nizhny Novgorod residents were warned that dust behind the refrigerator could cause a fire.

      On August 8, 2026, at 12:28, Society Project manager for security systems Sergey Pobedenostsev warned that dust accumulating behind the refrigerator could become a fire hazard in the apartment. In an interview with the publication "Abzac," he explained that a layer of dirt, debris, and dust often forms between the refrigerator and the wall, as well as between the refrigerator and the floor. It only takes one spark to ignite a fire, which can occur due to a faulty power cord, technical issues, or malfunctions in the outlets. Pobedenostsev emphasized that the electrical arc generated when connecting faulty equipment can lead to charring of outlets and plugs. To prevent a fire, it is necessary to conduct thorough cleaning regularly, preferably once a quarter. Additionally, it is important to monitor the condition of the wiring and its functionality. The expert also pointed out the danger of oil and other technical fluid leaks inside the refrigerator. If you notice malfunctions, overheating, or leaks, it is recommended to immediately disconnect the refrigerator from the power supply and consult a specialist for repairs.
