Nizhny Novgorod residents are invited to participate in the patriotic competition "The Connecting Thread of the Peoples of Russia."

Applications for the competition can be submitted until October 31. The acceptance of applications for participation in the All-Russian historical and patriotic competition "The Connecting Thread of the Peoples of Russia" (6+) has begun. The project is timed to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and aims to preserve the historical memory of the unity of the country, develop civic identity, and foster patriotism among children, adolescents, and youth through the creation and presentation of creative works by the participants of the competition, revealing personal, family, historical, and cultural stories about representatives of different nationalities, peoples, and generations united by a common historical fate, civic responsibility, love for the Motherland, and the desire to protect their native homeland. "The name of the project conveys its main idea - the continuity of generations, the importance of family traditions, and the unbreakable connection between the past, present, and future," noted the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Olga Lyubimova, in a video address to the participants of the competition. Participants in the competition can be citizens of Russia aged 8 to 23 inclusive. To participate, it is necessary to prepare an original work in one of the competition categories: poetry, prose, and artistic drawing - stories about relatives connected with the military events of the past, and about those who today continue to defend and help on the front lines or in the rear. By October 31, 2026, it is necessary to register on the competition website: svyazuyushchaya-nit.rf and upload the work in the personal account. If the participant is under 18 years old, the application is submitted by a parent or legal representative who gives consent for participation and processing of personal data. It is also necessary to subscribe to the official information resource of the competition on the social network "VKontakte": https://vk.ru/svyaz_nit. Among the jury members of the competition are the rector of the A.M. Gorky Literary Institute, writer Alexey Varlamov; poet, essayist, prose writer Dmitry Vodenikov; editor-in-chief of "Literary Newspaper," writer Maxim Zamchev; People's Artist of Russia, rector of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute Evgeny Knyazev, and other well-known cultural figures. As a result, it is planned to collect at least 15,000 works, from which 500 finalists, 100 winners, and 10 holders of special prizes will be determined. Each participant will receive an official diploma. The competition "The Connecting Thread of the Peoples of Russia" is implemented by the Committee of Families of Warriors of the Fatherland with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. Project partners include the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of Russia, and other agencies.
