Traffic has been opened on the bridge over the Pizhma in Tonshaev.

      On August 6, 2026, at 15:32, Society In the working settlement of Tonshaev, the reconstruction of the bridge over the Pizhma River on the automobile road "Tonshaev - Oshminskoye - Kodochigi" has been completed. The work was carried out as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." This was reported by the Main Department of Automobile Roads of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The length of the reconstructed section was 337 meters, including the two-lane bridge itself, which is 30.9 meters long. The cost of the state contract is 96.8 million rubles. For the convenience and safety of residents, sidewalks have been arranged along the entire road and on the bridge, and railing fences have been installed. Throughout the section, 13 modern outdoor lighting poles have been installed, ensuring comfortable movement during nighttime. In accordance with the project documentation, a stormwater drainage system with local treatment facilities has been constructed. The bridge over the Pizhma connects two parts of the district center, where more than 4,000 people live. In the riverside part, there are the central district hospital, ambulance services, production enterprises, and a significant portion of the population resides. Every day, school buses transport children to preschool and educational institutions located in the central part of the settlement across the bridge. Moreover, this road is the only way to reach other settlements in the district - the settlement of Yuzhny, the village of Oshminskoye, the villages of Kodochigi, Bolshie and Malie Selki, Bolshie, Malie, and Srednie Lugi. This is an important transport artery for local enterprises - the bread factory, timber processing organizations, and small businesses, which are represented by more than 40 companies in the municipal district. "The bridge over the Pizhma connects the residents of Tonshaev and several settlements in the district. School buses, ambulances, and people commuting to work and social facilities use it. We kept track of the work, and today the residents received a reliable, modern, and safe crossing," noted Acting Director of the State Budgetary Institution of the Nizhny Novgorod Region "GUAD" Alexander Denisov. The national project "Infrastructure for Life" was initiated by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to provide citizens with modern infrastructure. The national project consists of 12 federal projects, which are partly a continuation of previously implemented national projects "Safe Quality Roads," "Housing and Urban Environment," and state programs of the Russian Federation.
