The traffic scheme will not be changed after the accident involving a 9-year-old boy in Nizhny Novgorod.

      August 4, 2026 18:29 Society The traffic scheme in the residential complex "Kuznechikha City" (formerly "Nova Kuznechikha") will not change after the accident in which a 9-year-old cyclist was killed.

      Recall that the fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of August 4 on Mechtateley Street. According to the traffic police, a 19-year-old Kia driver hit a minor who was crossing the road on a bicycle in an unauthorized place. The child died before the ambulance arrived.

      Locals say that a fatal accident has already occurred at this site. They requested the installation of a traffic light but were denied: according to authorities, the traffic intensity here is insufficient for its installation.

      The editorial office of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" decided to find out whether the traffic scheme would change after the new horrific accident. In response to our request, the Department of Transport and Road Management stated that the area is already equipped with all necessary technical means for organizing road traffic.

      In particular, near school No. 188, "Children" signs have been installed, a speed limit of 40 km/h is in effect, three speed bumps are placed before pedestrian crossings, and guardrails are installed along the road.

      "According to preliminary information, the road traffic accident on Mechtateley Street is directly related to violations of traffic rules committed by the participants in the road traffic," the transport department added.
