The state debt of the Nizhny Novgorod region has decreased by 12 billion rubles since the beginning of the year.

      On August 5, 2026, at 12:18, Economy The volume of the public debt of the Nizhny Novgorod region as of August 1 amounted to almost 204.45 billion rubles. According to the regional Ministry of Finance, over the seven months of 2026, the debt burden of the region decreased by more than 12.02 billion rubles. As of January 1, 2026, the total volume of public debt was 216.47 billion rubles. The main part of the region's obligations still consists of federal budget loans — 112.12 billion rubles. This is 54.8% of the total volume of obligations. Compared to the beginning of the year, their size decreased by 17.83 billion rubles. At the same time, the volume of loans from commercial banks increased. Over seven months, the amount rose from 55.6 billion to 65.5 billion rubles. They now account for 32% of the total public debt of the region. Another part of the obligations consists of government securities. Their volume decreased by 4 billion rubles and amounted to 25.5 billion rubles. The share of such borrowings in the debt structure is 12.5%. The smallest part of the public debt structure is made up of government guarantees — 1.33 billion rubles, or 0.7%. Compared to the beginning of the year, the volume of such obligations decreased by 92.9 million rubles. According to the forecast, by January 1, 2027, the volume of regional public debt may amount to 230.55 billion rubles. Its structure is planned to include 106.13 billion rubles in federal budget loans, 80.15 billion rubles in commercial bank loans, 42.5 billion rubles in government securities, and 1.76 billion rubles in state guarantees.
