Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to live without income for an average of 4.4 months.

August 3, 2026 10:27 Economy Nizhny Novgorod residents can live off their savings for an average of 4.4 months in case of loss of income. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the SuperJob service.

Most city residents keep track of their finances: 68% admitted that they monitor their income and expenses. Of these, 52% do it in general terms, while 16% keep strict records. Almost a third of respondents (32%) do not track their personal budget.

67% of survey participants try to plan their future income and expenses. Most often, the planning horizon is limited to the coming months: 45% look ahead no more than six months. Another 14% make plans for a period of six months to a year, while 8% plan for more than a year.

In the event of a complete loss of income, 12% of Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to last less than a month. 20% of respondents have enough savings for one to two months, 14% for three to six months. Another 9% expect to live without earnings for six months to a year, while 7% are confident that their reserves will last for more than a year. At the same time, 38% admitted that they have no savings.

Most respondents rate their financial knowledge as average—55% answered this way. 16% consider their level of financial literacy to be high, while 13% rate it as low.

Men more often than women keep track of income and expenses, plan for the long term more actively, and rate their financial competence higher.

Young people under 35 are less likely to control their budget and make financial plans compared to older age groups. They also less frequently describe their level of literacy as high. The lowest proportion of those with savings is recorded among citizens aged 35 to 45.

Respondents with higher education pay more attention to managing personal finances than college graduates: they more often plan expenses and form savings.

City residents with an income of up to 100,000 rubles are more likely to adhere to strict accounting than those who earn more. Survey participants with salaries from 100,000 to 150,000 rubles are more active than others in making financial plans, mainly for the short term. As income increases, the proportion of those with savings also increases, as does the self-assessment of financial literacy.

It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod residents most often save for a financial safety cushion. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
