The stork Gera from the Nizhny Novgorod region has become a father of many children.

      On July 31, 2026, at 19:42, Society In Perevoz, a stork named Gera has become a father: the pair in the nest has three chicks. This was reported by the Ministry of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The bird has been monitored by hunting inspectors for several years. During the monitoring, it was established that Gera has formed a pair, and offspring have appeared in the large nest.

      Wintering in the Nizhny Novgorod region is atypical for storks. Nevertheless, Gera has been staying in Perevoz for the second consecutive winter. Specialists are monitoring the conditions of his habitat and ensuring his safety, especially during the cold period.

      According to the agency, the refusal to fly south may be related to the availability of food—Gera is actively fed by local residents.

      Specialists are observing the stork family and assessing the prospects of their further behavior. It is still unknown whether they will stay for the winter this year.
