The reserve unit "BARS-NN" has been reinforced with 45 new vehicles.
On August 1, 2026, at 09:22, Society The keys to 45 new vehicles were handed over to the reservists of the "BARS-NN" unit. The ceremony took place on July 31 with the participation of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, the Deputy Prime Minister of the region, Vladimir Tuzhilin, the commander of the unit, representatives of the authorities, and personnel. This was reported by the regional ministry for the protection of facilities.
In particular, five GAZ-3308 "Sadko" vehicles, four passenger "GAZelles," 17 "Sobol Farmer" GAZ-2310 vehicles, 17 "Sobol" GAZ-2752 vehicles, as well as two pickups were handed over. The vehicles are intended to ensure the safety of the Nizhny Novgorod region, increase the mobility of the units, transport personnel, and provide logistical support. They will be used for the protection of industrial, energy, and other critically important infrastructure facilities.
Gleb Nikitin noted that "BARS-NN" has confirmed its effectiveness. Reservists participate daily in ensuring the safety of Nizhny Novgorod residents by protecting critical infrastructure and the airspace of the region. The governor emphasized that the transfer of new equipment will strengthen the material and technical base of the unit and enhance its mobility. "We will continue to create all necessary conditions for the development of 'BARS-NN' and support our reservists," said Gleb Nikitin.
It is worth noting that service in the reserve "BARS-NN" takes place exclusively within the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region and does not involve deployment to the Special Military Operation. Recruitment is conducted on a voluntary basis through military enlistment offices of municipalities by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Reservists are provided with monetary compensation, equipment, and uniforms. During training sessions, their jobs and salaries are preserved, and life and health insurance, medical assistance, and free meals are provided. For each drone shot down, reservists receive 100,000 rubles.
