A Nizhny Novgorod man who killed and dismembered a couple in Avtozavod has been sentenced to 18 years.

      On July 30, 2026, at 18:15, Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, a verdict was announced in a high-profile criminal case regarding a double murder in the Avtozavodsky district. This was reported by the press service of the regional court. The defendant was a 42-year-old native of the Kaliningrad region. He was found guilty under paragraphs "a" and "d" of part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - for the murder of two individuals committed with particular cruelty. As established by the investigation and the court, in August 2025, the man was in an apartment in a building on Raevsky Street, where he rented a room. During a conflict with the 51-year-old owner of the apartment and her 70-year-old husband, he attacked them. The woman sustained at least 13 stab wounds. The defendant beat the man with a metal mop and his fists, after which he inflicted at least eight knife wounds on him. Both victims died at the scene from their injuries. The next day, the perpetrator returned to the apartment, severed the heads of the deceased, and removed parts of their bodies. He hid them on the roofs of a garage complex on the same street, after which he fled. The defendant fully admitted his guilt in committing the crime. The court sentenced the man to 18 years of imprisonment in a strict regime correctional colony with a two-year restriction of freedom. It was previously reported that in the Gaginsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the buried body of a local resident was found. A 78-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of murder.
