MTS has launched a free "SOS button" for children's safety.

      On July 29, 2026, at 15:05, the company MTS launches new free solutions for subscribers in the area of child safety, which will help in situations when parents are not nearby. Thus, the "SOS button" in the form of a widget on the phone screen will be available for the child to send geolocation and a help signal to significant adults. In addition, MTS has added a feature that allows the child to stay connected even with a negative balance. MTS's research showed that when choosing a children's tariff, parents most often pay attention to the availability of such an option.

      MTS solutions allow parents to contact their child under any circumstances. Two new features are connected for free and require minimal parental involvement in the setup:

      The "SOS button" allows the child to send their geolocation and a notification requesting contact to the parent with one press. The widget is installed on the main screen of the phone through the "My MTS" app. The location is displayed in the "Geo" section of the app. This feature is especially relevant in situations where the child is lost, faces a threat, bullying, or scammers. In such cases, emergency communication can be critically important.

      "Always Connected" eliminates the risk of complete financial blocking with a zero or negative balance. Instead of a standard block, the child receives a 30-day grace period: during this time, they have access to 20 minutes of calls and 20 SMS to numbers in the Family Group. As soon as the balance becomes zero, the parent receives a notification about the need to top up the account. If the balance is not replenished within 30 days, standard blocking occurs. The service also works in 12 popular countries among Russian tourists: Turkey, Kazakhstan, China, Georgia, Armenia, the UAE, Egypt, Germany, Thailand, Italy, Spain, and France.

      Before launching these features, MTS conducted a survey among parents about the key criteria for choosing a children's tariff. The key need for 56% of parents is the ability to stay in touch with their child without worrying about the balance. At the same time, about 26% and 19% of surveyed parents noted the importance of content filtering and affordable pricing for the tariff.

      The solutions have become new elements in the system of comprehensive protection for children on the internet. It also includes multi-level protection against spam, fraud in calls, and malicious advertising, as well as the "Safe Internet" service based on smart AI filters that ensure the child's safety on the internet in real-time.

      "In the run-up to the new school year, the issue of children's safety comes to the forefront for parents in Nizhny Novgorod. We understand how important it is to know where the child is, especially when they are going to school, extracurricular activities, or returning home. In fact, the 'Family Group' becomes a single dashboard: in one window, the parent sees the geolocation, the child's account status, and instantly receives notifications if they need help. Our task is to create simple communication tools and reduce the everyday burden on adults by taking on part of the control over children's safety," notes MTS director in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Andrey Belov.

      Both services are available to Family Group participants and subscribers of the Junior tariff line, with free connection. Any MTS subscriber can organize a Family Group in the "My MTS" app, and it can include subscribers from any mobile operators and receive discounts on communication services.
