In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a regional preventive shift for "difficult" teenagers called "I Can" has started.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the regional preventive camp "I Can" has started at the Educational Center for Patriotic Education "Guardsman." The participants of the camp are 150 teenagers aged 14 to 17. During the preventive shift, which runs from July 29 to August 7, representatives of the student activism from professional educational organizations will mentor teenagers who are on various types of preventive records: in juvenile affairs commissions, in PDN units, and on internal preventive records in professional educational organizations. The educational and upbringing program is comprehensive and includes several thematic blocks: career guidance, volunteering, creativity, entrepreneurship, sports, and military-patriotic education. In addition to physical training and psychological adaptation, participants will attend master classes on project management, public speaking, and financial literacy. An important innovation of the camp is the post-support system. After the intensive shift, a set of supportive activities will be organized to consolidate the skills acquired and successfully integrate teenagers into their usual environment, including consultations with psychologists in educational institutions and mentorship from student activists. "Working with teenagers who find themselves in difficult life situations or on preventive records is not just a matter of safety; it is a strategic vector for the development of youth in the region. We consider these kids as an equal target audience, possessing powerful internal energy and abilities. Our task at the "I Can" camp is not to re-educate them but to point them in the right direction, to show them that all opportunities are open to them. They need not control but the right navigator to direct their activity into the constructive stream of creativity, sports, and entrepreneurship," emphasized the Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Svetlana Anufrieva.

      The camp is being held to implement state policy in the field of prevention and juvenile delinquency and aims to create conditions for effective socialization and self-realization of teenagers. The key task is to motivate teenagers to abandon a criminal lifestyle, develop skills for constructive conflict resolution, and form personal and collective responsibility through a system of interaction in groups.
