Nine illegal crypto farms were liquidated in Nizhny Novgorod.
On July 30, 2026, at 17:06, Incidents: The transport police, with the assistance of the FSB, eliminated nine illegal crypto farms in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volga Federal District.
From December 2024 to July 2026, a 37-year-old individual entrepreneur was engaged in cryptocurrency mining in a garage located on the premises of a transport organization. To operate the equipment, he illegally connected to the power grids of the transport organization at the railway station of Pochinki.
It was established that the suspect also made alterations to the electricity meter, artificially lowering its readings. This allowed him to consume electricity without accounting for it, which was necessary for the uninterrupted operation of the mining farm.
As a result of the illegal actions, the owner suffered material damage amounting to over 4 million rubles, which is classified as a particularly large amount. Preliminary estimates indicate that the total damage exceeds 20 million rubles.
The investigative department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volga Federal District has initiated a criminal case against the entrepreneur under paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust").
It later became known that the suspect organized eight more illegal mining farms in various residential premises in Nizhny Novgorod. According to police data, the equipment was located in car washes, basements of residential buildings, and buried in a container on private property. More than 120 units of cryptocurrency mining equipment, four mobile phones, a laptop, and bank cards were seized.
Currently, examinations and investigative actions are being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the incident. A preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave has been chosen for the suspect, along with proper behavior.
