      On July 21, 2026, at 12:36, Incidents The Nizhny Novgorod District Court extended the detention of Nizhny Novgorod major Sergey Kornilov. He will remain in custody until October 23, 2026, inclusive, reported NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" from the regional court.

      Recall that the 21-year-old son of the former general director of the GC "Luidor" became a suspect in a criminal case after a traffic accident that occurred in May. He got behind the wheel of a convertible while intoxicated and caused an accident involving three cars on the Pokhvalinsky exit.

      After that, Kornilov published several provocative videos on social media, which caused a wide public outcry. Later, several criminal cases were initiated against him, which were then combined into one proceeding.

      Also, after the traffic accident, Kornilov received 10 days of administrative arrest for disorderly conduct in one of the restaurants in Nizhny Novgorod. Along with him, his acquaintance, who also participated in the conflict, was held accountable. He received eight days of arrest for assaulting a journalist.

      Initially, the court chose a preventive measure for the young man in the form of a ban on certain actions. In particular, he was prohibited from visiting bars and using the internet. Later, the court changed the preventive measure, replacing the ban on certain actions with detention.

      In addition, for refusing to undergo a medical examination, Kornilov was deprived of his driver's license for 1 year and 11 months. He was also fined 45,000 rubles.
