      On July 25, 2026, at 13:15, Incidents: A 78-year-old man from Nizhny Novgorod lost more than 13 million rubles and a collection of gold coins after falling for scammers. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region. According to the agency, the criminals posed as law enforcement officers. They convinced the man that he needed to confirm his non-involvement in the transfer of money to an unfriendly country. Succumbing to the trick, the pensioner handed over his savings and 17 gold coins with certificates to the fraudsters. The meeting with the female courier took place near one of the houses on Belinsky Street in the Nizhny Novgorod district. To confirm her identity, she provided the code word "sunny day." The total damage from the actions of the scammers amounted to 13,466,227 rubles. A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Law enforcement is currently establishing the circumstances of the incident.
