Nizhny Novgorod residents were warned about the first wave of flu and ARVI.
July 22, 2026 15:00 Society An increase in the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in Russia is expected as early as the beginning of September. This was reported by Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, to RIA Novosti. According to her, the epidemic season for 2026-2027 traditionally starts in the first decade of September. This is when people return from vacations, children go back to school, and teams gather together again. The first wave of illness is also expected at this time.
"If our fellow citizens remember how to protect themselves, then perhaps the start of the season will be calmer than last year," Popova noted.
In addition, a decree from the chief state sanitary doctor regarding the prevention of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections has already been prepared. It is worth noting that in 2026, a new standard for providing medical care to adult patients with influenza came into effect in Russia. Vaccination is still considered the most effective measure of protection against the disease, as it helps reduce the risk of severe illness. More information about the importance of vaccinations can be found here.
Earlier, it was reported that the incidence of "hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome" increased by 12% in the Nizhny Novgorod region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
