On the 90th anniversary of the legendary non-stop flight of Valery Chkalov's crew, the deputies of the Legislative Assembly laid flowers at his monument.

      On July 20, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers took place at the monument to pilot Valery Chkalov in the square in front of the Georgievskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. The event was timed to the 90th anniversary of the beginning of the non-stop flight of the crew consisting of Valery Chkalov, Georgy Baidukov, and Alexander Belyakov along the route Moscow – Far East. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Denis Bakiyev, the senator of the Russian Federation from the Nizhny Novgorod Region Dmitry Krasnov, the Chairman of the City Duma Evgeny Chintsov, the Deputy Head of the Administration of Nizhny Novgorod Vladimir Anisimov, deputies of the regional parliament, members of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Council of Veterans, representatives of the "Altar of the Fatherland" project and "People's Community," young parliamentarians, and public figures. "Exactly nine decades ago, in July 1936, Soviet aviators accomplished what seemed impossible. In 56 hours, they covered almost 10,000 kilometers in an ANT-25 aircraft, setting a world record for distance. This flight became not just a test of technology but also a vivid proof of the courage and professionalism of our great countryman. Valery Chkalov forever remains in history as a man of incredible bravery, who could feel the machine and take responsibility in the most challenging situations, even when he had to land the plane on an unsuitable narrow strip of land amidst the sea. We must remember this and pass this story on to the younger generation so that they know what a Russian person is capable of when he has a goal," noted the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Evgeny Lyulin. Participants noted that the feat of Chkalov's crew was of immense significance for the country. This flight demonstrated the power of Soviet aviation to the whole world and gave a powerful impetus for the development of domestic aircraft manufacturing. The uniqueness of the route and the extremely difficult weather conditions faced by the pilots – cyclones, icing, and fogs – only underscore the heroism of the crew, who managed not only to survive but also to successfully accomplish the task set before them. The Deputy Chairman of the regional parliament Denis Bakiyev emphasized that for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the name Chkalov is a great source of pride. He reminded that the courage and audacity with which the pilot approached the sky will always serve as an example for the youth. He also expressed confidence that the memory of the great pilot and his comrades will live on for centuries, and their feat will remain an inspiring symbol of courage and dedication to their cause.
