      On July 18, the Secret Garden on Slavyanskaya Street, 3, will open after renovation in the quarter of the Church of the Three Saints in Nizhny Novgorod. The space, which was an abandoned courtyard a few years ago, has been transformed into a manor garden with herbs, new paths, and a venue for intimate events dedicated to the traditions of manor life in Nizhny Novgorod at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. As noted by the director of the ANO "ASIRIS," Ekaterina Kryunas, the Secret Garden will become a space for the revival of manor traditions and for meetings in the atmosphere of the old city. From 12:00 to 15:00, guests will be able to observe cherry picking and, together with historical culinary expert Yulia Polyakova, prepare jam using recipes that were used over a hundred years ago. Nina Ershova, the project leader of "Protected Quarters," reported that unlike noble estates on the outskirts, there were historically no regular gardens and greenhouses, but there were free gardens and flower beds where residents planted small vegetable gardens and gathered fruits and berries. According to her, traditional plants remain part of the urban history, and the green areas of the quarter are maintained annually. Throughout the day, tea ceremonies from a samovar, sales of author souvenirs, vintage decor, and handmade products are planned. At 15:30, a gastronomic program "The History of the Picnic" with Ksenia Bazderova will begin, dedicated to the traditions of country lunches and tea parties of the 19th century. From 17:00 to 18:00, manor games such as croquet, serso, and other entertainments popular among city dwellers a century ago will take place in the garden. Entrance to the Secret Garden and all events, except for the "History of the Picnic" program, is free with prior registration on the "Protected Quarters" website tickets.zkvartaly.ru. The garden will be open for visits from Thursday to Sunday from 12:00 to 20:00. Since 2021, the ANO "ASIRIS" has been implementing a large-scale event program in the territory of the "Protected Quarters." Immersive tours, music festivals, exhibitions, and master classes are held. The project aims to preserve and develop the historical environment of Nizhny Novgorod and unites 28 wooden houses with unique architecture, where Maxim Gorky and Vladimir Korolenko lived, Fyodor Shalyapin performed, and Anton Chekhov visited.
