Nizhny Novgorod residents made it to the top ranks in the Knowledge tournament. The game of "What? Where? When?"

      On July 15, 2026, at 16:47 Society, the finals of the Knowledge Tournament took place on July 12 and 14, 2026, in Moscow. The game of the sports "What? Where? When?" is one of the largest intellectual projects of the Russian society "Knowledge." The best teams that passed a multi-stage selection during the 2025-2026 gaming season met in the capital. The tournament is implemented within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children."

      The final games consisted of 10 game rounds with 6 questions each, dedicated to the history and culture of Russia, the country's achievements, outstanding compatriots, and the traditions of the peoples of Russia.

      As a result of the competition, absolute winners of the Tournament were determined in categories among students, representatives of the working youth, as well as schoolchildren and college students, and 9 prizewinners in all categories. The awards were presented to them by State Duma Deputy of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Anatoly Vasserman, First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection, Issues of Fatherhood, Motherhood, and Childhood Tatyana Butskaya, General Director of the ANO "More than a Journey" Olesya Brykova, and three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming, head of the Russian Theater on Water, Deputy of the Moscow City Duma Maria Kiseleva.

      "The final is always a competition, but today there are no random people in this hall. Each of you has gone through serious selection, done a lot of intellectual work, and earned the right to fight for victory. That is why today you are already winners. I wish you fair competition, bright games, and enjoyment from each question, as it is such challenges that unite the strongest," noted Kirill Khvil, Deputy General Director of the Russian society "Knowledge."

      The absolute winner of the Tournament among university students was the team "HSEster," representing the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics." According to the participants, success was the result of regular preparation, cohesion, and years of joint work. The team notes that they meet every week for training, and over the years of participation, the players have become not just like-minded individuals but a real family.

      "Victory is never accidental - it is the result of constant training, cohesion, and trust in each other. We have long become not just a team but a real family, so we always believed in our potential. The final turned out to be very tense, especially when the struggle with strong opponents began, and it was this that made the game so bright and memorable. We are grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to be part of this tournament and are already looking forward to new intellectual competitions," shared the team members.

      The team "Order of Saint Kisel" from Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky took 4th place in the final game.

      Among schoolchildren and college students, the team "Ni.Grek" from Lyceum No. 165 named after the 65th anniversary of "GAZ" entered the top ten prizewinners, taking 6th place, and was also awarded commemorative prizes based on the results of the special tour of the special economic zone "Alabuga."

      The winners and prizewinners of the Tournament were recognized by the project partners. ANO "More than a Journey" awarded the teams that took the top three places in each category with trips across Russia, the educational holding Skillbox provided certificates for training to the winning teams, and all finalists received access to AI English language lessons. In addition, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) will provide the winners and prizewinners among student teams with the opportunity to undergo internships in subordinate organizations. The Federal Medical and Biological Agency was also a partner of the event.
